How can SupportLine help?
SupportLine listens, supports and responds to callers in need of emotional support. In our lives some of us may suffer emotional and physical traumas, difficulties and fears, that we may find difficult to talk to others about. It can sometimes be hard to confide in those closest to us for fear of being judged, not being believed or understood, or we do not want to worry other people. Some may feel that they simply do not have anyone to turn to or to gain support from. Depression and anxiety may strike for no obvious reason and this may lead to feelings of isolation and despair.
Many callers are suffering from low sense of worth and self esteem. Some have found themselves in situations where they feel they have no control over their own lives. SupportLine tries to empower and encourage callers to be responsible for their own choices, decisions and actions, thereby regaining some control and enabling them to develop or improve their sense of self worth and self esteem and an inner feelings of strength.
SupportLine will enable the caller to talk over his/her feelings with a helpline worker who offers non-judgmental, caring, empathic support. The helpline worker will work with the caller to encourage greater understanding and awareness of the caller's issues and to help the caller develop more positive coping strategies.
